Awakening
When
I woke up to the pattering of little feet, it took me a while to realize I was
in my new home with Madge and her four year old daughter, Lilly. The last week
had been busy with everything that had happened and last night was the first in
my new home. After Master Ken had tested me, he gave me some scrolls to read
and sent me on my way. He said training would begin today. Knowing I had a busy
day ahead, I decided to get up for an early start. Rising to the predawn light
filtering through the floral laced curtains and the birds singing in symphony
to the rising sun, I swung my feet over the bed to the soft down carpet and
sunk my toes in. Blinking away the sleep from my eyes, I started to stretch
when my door burst open and two sky blue eyes looked out behind short curly
blonde hair in surprise. Standing with her feet slightly parted, one hand on
her hip, and the other still holding the door handle, Lilly proclaimed,
"Dis isn't you woom!"
"Oh?"
I said in mock surprise. "So whose room is this then?" Puffing her
little chest out, Lilly announced, "Dis is my bwuder's woom!" And
with that said, she turned around and marched out into the hall letting the aroma
of fresh baked bread wafted in causing my stomach to growl. Grinning... More

Fresh Start
I
woke up this morning and realized that things needed to change. I could no
longer live off of the good graces of those around me, Drey in particular. I
needed my own cash, and that meant I needed a job. I could not continue to pawn
off all I had till nothing was left. What could I do though? It wasn't like
Earth, where I could go and apply at the department store. Things moved
differently here. I needed to assess my strengths and my talents. The jobs I
had in college consisted of the usual run of the mill jobs, working at the Starbucks
near the mall part time and part time at the copy store, while plugging away at
my education. Somehow I didn't think that would work here in Bree.
Drey
had left a note on the table letting me know that he'd be back around mid-day
to take me to the rune-keeper trainer. His note also included a leg knife and
sheath that he suggested I hide, and to stay out of trouble until he got back.
Strapping the sheath around my leg, shouldering my bag, and heading out the
door of my room, I thought I would inquire with Mr. Barliman about any jobs
around town.
The
common room was quiet and most of the rabble from last night was long gone
about their business, with a few exceptions. One man was passed... More

The Tavern
When I first entered into the town of Bree my senses were
overwhelmed. Here I was in a place that reminded me of Europe in the medieval
times, stone buildings, market places, horses in the cobbled stone streets,
noises, and smells like I had never experienced before. Some of those smells
were a bit overwhelming, especially near the stables. Bleh! There were even
chickens running amok in the streets dodging through the legs of horse and
people running through town. As I looked around at the sites in open jawed
wonder, I began to notice people staring at me. As you can imagine, I did not
exactly fit in with my blue jeans and t-shirt. Because of that, I decided the
best idea was to head to the market for a change of clothes. I had enough going
on to deal with just being in a new world, I didn't need the stares that came
with other-world clothing as well.
While Drey went off to do some errands of his own, I hit the
shopping mall, or Middle-Earth's equivalent. When I got to the market, I found
that I had a new dilemma to deal with. The people here did not deal in dollars.
I was able to pawn off my silver bracelet for a dress. It was a ragtag scrap of
a dress. I guess I'm not so good at bartering. That is something that I still

KELDARAH
Where
to start? I guess I’ll start from the beginning…. How did I get here? I am still in the dark as to how that came
about. I’m just a regular girl from Boston. I was walking along the street,
when a strangely dressed man drinking a cup of coffee walked up to me smiling.
He tried to make some casual conversation about the chilly weather we were
having. Well I really didn’t have time; I was too busy getting ready to meet my
publisher about the progress of my latest book. My
mind was preoccupied when he said something strange, “You are the one! I knew
I’d find you here!”
I
looked at him quizzically, “Excuse me? Do I know you?” Reaching into his
otherworldly bag at his side, he grabbed a handful of dust and opening his
palm, he blew some dust into my face and said something that sounded like, “Now
to set things right,” but I didn’t understand what he meant…. seconds later my
vision began to fade and I became weak all over like I was falling into water
with a weight tied to my feet looking up into his ever fading smiling
countenance.
That
was the last that I remember of my world. When I woke up I found myself face
down on a damp grassy mound in a forest of all places-- a forest you ask?... More
